What is Connected Village?

Connected Village is a database of Woods Hole researchers and their publications. Six research institutions are represented in the database: Marine Biological Laboratory, NOAA Northeast Fisheries Science Center, Sea Education Association, USGS Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center, Woods Hole Research Center, and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

What is its purpose?

It is a straightforward, comprehensive, and intuitive interface to the literature created by the science researchers of Woods Hole.

What kinds of citations are included?

Science communications take place in a number of different venues, so the Library has selected a platform that can reflect citations to journal articles, conference papers and posters, web sites, books and book chapters, thesis and dissertations, presentations and lectures, and sound and video recordings.

Where do the citations come from?

The Library routinely gathers citations from a variety of databases. In addition, authors are invited to provide short form (NSF-style) C.V. in electronic form (Word or PDF), and/or an export from a citation software, such as RefWorks™ or Endnote

What platform is being used to host the citations?

Connected Village uses BibApp. BibApp is an open source platform created by staff at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Wisconsin Madison. It is hosted and maintained by staff of the MBLWHOI Library.
